"EDUCATION IS NOT THE FILLING OF A BUCKET,
BUT THE LIGHTING OF A FIRE"

Children should be "allowed, encouraged, and helped to work with and help each other, to learn from each other, and to think, talk, write, and read about the things that most excite and interest them.

STUDENT LIFE

Students

Prospective students at Al Manarah International Boarding School will typically be young men between the ages of 12 and 15 years, who are ready to reach beyond the boundaries of a traditional classroom to take on the challenge of working intensely within a small, diverse, and supportive learning community. Our rigorous student selection process will ensure that those who are accepted are motivated to learn and willing to accept a challenge.

Advisors

Every student has an advisor who serves to guide him academically and personally throughout his time at Al Manarah. Because advisors only have 6-8 advisees, they are able to devote a significant amount of personal attention to every student.

The advisor plays many roles: mentor, coach, teacher, and counselor. He helps the student to identify academic, personal, and vocational goals. In addition to individual student meetings, groups will be formed for student support, peer feedback, and furthering growth and development.

Living

Al Manarah International Boarding School will promote a healthy, balanced living environment on and off campus. Students will be up and active from dawn, with their morning prayer, and by dusk, we expect they will be perfectly willing to get an early night. During the day the students will enjoy an independent atmosphere, where they are fully responsible for attending class on time and for being ready with the correct materials.

An array of extracurricular activities will be available for the students to schedule in their spare time or they can take advantage of the many 'quite corners' provided around campus to excel in their academic endeavors.

All dorm rooms will have their own bathrooms, small refrigerator, allocated living space and wireless regulated Internet connection. Students can also relax and socialize in the common rooms.

Health & Fitness

In addition to physical activity, an essential component to a healthy lifestyle is diet. Professionals will be consulted to ensure that the students are only eating and drinking the very best. As much as possible, organic, on campus produced meat and vegetables will be used, as well as pure honey from the campus' future planned beehives.

Through this model, we hope Al Manarah students will be well clear of any of the currents youth health epidemics not to mention possessing a superior mental ability and higher energy levels.

Local Involvements

At Al Manarah Schools importance is given to being involved, and understanding local interests. Community service and development work will be intertwined within the curriculum so that academic efforts bring benefit to the lives of people.

Student Online Diaries

Every student will be required to maintain an online diary. This will not only act as a great way to record and share thoughts and academic achievements, but will be an essential way for family to be involved on a daily basis. Parents can contribute for example in finding resources, offering advice, and generally encouraging their loved ones during their education.
